The Behavioral Outcomes Assessor is responsible for the administration and scoring of psychological test batteries evaluating cognitive, behavioral, and emotional status under the direct supervision of a clinical psychologist for a Department of Defense funded suicide risk assessment study. They will have primary responsibility for uploading collected data to the Military Suicide Research Consortium’s secure data server and to work with the Data Management and Statistical Analysis Core ensuring accuracy of entered data.

The study will pit several psychometrically sound suicide risk assessment measures against one another, to determine which tool or combination of tools optimally assesses the likelihood of future suicide-related indices in a large sample of military personnel. We will also test whether brief self-report measures perform as well or better than more comprehensive interview-based assessment approaches and if there is a benefit to combining the two assessment methods.

This is a suicide risk assessment study. A Behavioral Outcome Assessor’s experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills and judgment dealing with sensitive populations who may or may not have suicidal thoughts and tendencies. Experience with military populations, familiarity with military terms and culture are highly desired.

Duties:

•Responsible for initiating and carrying out the clinical protocol in collaboration with the
research team.
•Screen referred potential participants for inclusion in the study and carry out participant consent procedures
•Conduct standardized assessments
•Uploads data to secure data server
•Conducts quality control and related training to establish the highest level of accuracy
and reliability of services.
•Regularly communicates with study Principal Investigators, Study Coordinator, and Site Principal Investigator regarding study procedures and progress
•Attends regular (at least twice/month) conference calls with research team

Qualifications:

•Ideal candidates must have strong assessment skills
•Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Psychometrics, Social Work, or counseling field and Mental Health Professional Licensure required
•Experience in diagnostic interviewing, and administering standardized assessments
• Candidates with evidence of research backgrounds and experience working with military populations highly preferred and strongly encouraged to apply
